Medieval Feast!

I can't believe it's been a month since my last post. What I can't believe more, is that I have been here a month. Wow...time flies. I am LOVING living in South Africa, and ministering with the Embrees. It's a joy having them as neighbors. I love spending time with them. I don't want to backlog about all that has happened, so I am starting fresh and promise to be better at updating from here on out. This past weekend, we had a medieval feast in honor of what the kids have been studying. 5 families, 28 people, games, home-made ice cream, and eating without plates were some of the events of the day. Being with friends was the best though. Ella, Mary, and I all sewed our costumes. I made a headpiece with the leftover fabric, and Mary braided my hair. The kids entertained us throughout the meal. It was wonderful!

Many of you know that I don't have a one year visa, so I am in the process of getting all of the requirements necessary for that to happen, done this week. I had the medical form filled out today, and I'll go tomorrow for the chest x-ray and fingerprinting. Still so much to do, but it's a start! :)

I leave for Swaziland on Friday on a Ladies retreat with other TEAM and ZEMA missionaries. I'm looking forward to it, as the following week I become "homeschool mom" to the Embree kids as Ella will be in Thailand.

Have a great week everyone!

Hi Jess!

You don't know me, but I found your blog a couple of weeks ago through Miriam Ritchie (if I remember correctly...) She's also in South Africa with WOLSA. I've never met Miriam, but we've spoken on Skype. A mutual acquaintance (Becky Copenhaver) from Harvey Cedars Bible Conference, NJ, put us in touch just before Miriam left for JHB - Nigel & I are South African, but have lived in Maryland for almost 13 years and are now US citizens.

I see you mention going to Swaziland and meeting up with ZEMA missionaries. Did you meet Andy & Heather Sullivan by any chance? They're South Africans with ZEMA in Swaziland. Heather is my husband's cousin.

Looks like you're having fun in South Africa!

God bless,
Bridget
